It all started when…
I lived in Garland, TX and started dancing at the age of 4…ballet, jazz, tap, baton, tumbling, modern, lyrical, musical theater… all the things! In high school I joined the drill team. In college I took performance dance. After graduating from UTD, I taught dance at Bishop Lynch High School and later at the UTD Fitness Center. I choreographed pieces for UTD’s annual charity show “Dancin 4 a Cause”.
Then, I lost my passion for dancing, discovered yoga, and threw myself into that instead.
Fast forward 20 years….
While in Largo, FL in 2024, I happened into a country western dance bar and was blown away by the line dancing! All line dancing.... modern, classic, hip hop... All ages...The DJ played all requests no matter what time it was. I would arrive at 6pm and stay till midnight and the dance floor would never be empty of line dancers. If I didn’t know a dance, the people watching was so much fun.
Before this moment, my exposure to line dancing was the Macarena, The Chicken Dance, Cupid Shuffle, The Wobble and the like .. Beginner dances you'd see at a party, wedding, or a regular club.
I had never seen complicated routines that you had to learn and practice. I had never heard most of the songs. I became obsessed with learning these awesome routines and going back to the club and being able to dance them with the crowd. I decided to bring this amazing form of fun exercise to anywhere that would love it…. retirement communities, country bars, resorts, corporate team building, fitness classes and more.
And here we are today!
A very special thank you to Line Dancing with Kate and Cowboys Dance Hall for reawakening my passion for dancing!
